Roller Derby Chronicles: A Transplant Story

My name is Frenzy Kenzy. I started skating in 2012 while living in Utah. I loved the teamwork and community,  nothing quite feels more unifying than skating like a school of fish. I ended up taking time off for some cute future derby players and ultimately moving into the Treasure Valley. I joined the Beet City in 2022. I was a little rusty and shy after being kept inside throughout the pandemic and I wanted to feel strong and capable working amongst a team again. I was seeking more than just a team; I craved that unifying sensation.

Little did I know that when I arrived to Beet City I would receive so much more than a strong team to work with. Beet City would introduce me to a second family. I was welcomed with open arms. The humans that create this organization truly show up to be better together. Through the good days and bad days we continue to support each other and encourage each other to bring our best.

My experience since joining the Beets has led to so much personal and athletic growth. My transitions are getting quicker and I can even FLEX MY PECS NOW?!  Credit goes to our phenomenal coaches and training directors who continuously push us to reach new heights. Every day brings a better understanding of derby, and I'm grateful for the skills I've acquired along the way.

If the proof was ever in the pudding I believe our team headshots (major shootout to ShutterThug) capture the essence of my time as a Beet. I can't wait to add more chapters to my roller derby story.
